The State Cabinet in its meeting on December 1 at the Interim Government Complex on Thursday has approved a proposal to extend social security pensions to 1.5 lakh people in the State from January 1 onwards.

Allotting land to Dubai based B.R.Shetty Group to set up a medical university. The government would allot 100 acres to the Group at Amaravati. The group would have to pay Rs.50 lakh per acre. The group would invest Rs.10,000 crore to set up a medical university, a 1,000 bed hospital, medical devices manufacturing unit, a 300 bed naturopathy centre, staff quarters, a convention centre.
The Cabinet had approved the proposal to extend old age, widow and physically challenged pensions to 1.5 lakh people. The pensions will be distributed to the newly identified beneficiaries at Janmabhoomi meetings.
Important decisions they made in meeting
Metro Rail project, the government would provide guarantee to the Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation to avail itself of a loan from agencies such as Hudco,. The metro rail project cost in Vijayawada has been put at Rs.7,212 crore including Rs.829.50 crore equity each from State and Central governments. The AMRC has to pool up the remaining amount through loan.
The government would allot 200 acres to Appolo Tyres Limited at Chinapanduru village of Varadayapalem mandal in Chittoor district to set up a modern tyres factory.
The government would provide guarantee to cash credit facility to the handloom sector to purchase clothes at a cost of Rs.52.48 crore and yarn at Rs.5.84 crore from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
The Cabinet had cleared proposals to increase the honorarium of elected representatives of local bodies. A Mayor would receive Rs.30,000 per month as against Rs.14,000 now. A deputy mayor would get Rs.20,000 against Rs.8,000 at present. The honorarium of chairpersons, corporators and councillors was also increased
